Ted McGinley

Ted McGinley (born May 30, 1958 in Newport Beach, California) is an American actor. He is married to Gigi Rice and they have two children.

Career

He is best known for his role as Jefferson D'Arcy on Married... with Children from 1991 to 1997. Since 2003, he has played Charley Shanowski on Hope & Faith.

Ted McGinley is noteworthy to some television buffs for joining the cast of popular and enduring series later in their runs, and continuing with them as they went into decline. In fact, the appearance of Ted McGinley on a show as a main character or recurring guest performer is seen as a sign that a show might be becoming tired. Such shows include Happy Days, The Love Boat, and Dynasty. Some have dubbed McGinley "The Closer", or the "Patron Saint of Shark Jumping" for this reason. However, it should be noted that McGinley's tenure on Married with Children, his best-known role, lasted much longer than that of David Garrison, his predecessor. On the other hand, as a replacement character, this places him in an additional Jump the Shark category. It should also be noted that his current show, Hope & Faith, is currently in a successful run on ABC. However, he has been a cast member since the start of the show, rather than being added later on.
